I've been using Essential, Companion, TKO Phosphite, pH Reducer, and Growth Products 18-3-6 fertilizer for years. They are all great products. The Essential not only does what is says it will do, but it's easy to mix and doesn't clog up in the tank, like so many other products do. And with our alkaline clay soils, pH Reducer makes a world of difference in nutrient uptake and overall tree health.
This summer, our company treated several river birches and maples that were suffering from chlorosis. With these species, leaf color problems are usually not just an iron issue, but indicate deficiencies of magnesium, manganese, and other micronutrients. We applied Micrel Total with Mg, S, B, Fe, Mn, Mo, and Zn, and the color improvement on the trees in just two short months has been incredible.

The Jenkins Estate in Beaverton, Oregon, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with its 68-acres of gardens and green space. The large lawn in front of the historic home is the site of frequent weddings, and the estate managers want the lawn and its backdrop of Japanese maples to look their best year-round. To keep the site picture-perfect, we treat the maples with Essential and Companion. This combination really makes the colors of the maples spectacular, with breath-taking leafy greens and bright burgundies. Hugging Trees for 25 Years
Keith Giertych, a Growth Products Nutrition Specialist, has been with Growth Products for 15 years. Prior to that, he worked for 10 years as the manager of a 1,400-acre New York estate where he used Growth Products and saw first-hand what a difference they made.
"Growth Products produces extraordinary goods that really do what they are supposed to do. The company's president, Dr. Clare Reinbergen, has a keen understanding of chemistry and high-tech manufacturing, which she marries with her understanding of soil and plant fertility," Giertych says. The result? "Core products such as Essential and Companion feed the soil and build up the number of the good microbes in the soil, making it easy for a tree to utilize what nature provided and to naturally fight disease organisms," Giertych explains.
Growth Products' liquid fertilizers, micronutrients, organic soil amendments and Companion fungicide do not hurt the environment or bust the budget. "Once people start using these products, they love them," Giertych says. "The cost for year-round maintenance is very economical, and when it comes to saving a tree well, it's pennies to the dollar on what it would cost to lose a magnificent tree and try to replace it."
